Summary.

People are living and working longer and the implications for areas such as health care and government entitlement programs are profound. But what about employers? Is there value to companies if they engage an aging workforce?

Richard A. Guzzo is co-founder and co-leader of the Workforce Sciences Institute. In Rick’s career he has been a professor of industrial-organizational psychology, most recently at the University of Maryland, and he has lengthy experience in research-based consulting. He has published extensively on productivity and performance at work.

Haig R. Nalbantian is co-founder and co-leader of the Workforce Sciences Institute. A labor/organizational economist, he has consulted to many leading organizations, deploying advanced analytics to inform workforce strategies and management. He has published widely on the links between human capital management, workforce productivity and business performance.

Nick L. Anderson is an associate working on Mercer’s Workforce Analytics and Sciences team, where he consults client organizations on pay equity and diversity practices using their human resource data. He earned his PhD in statistics in 2021. His research interests include meta-analysis, causal inference, education and labor economics.
